How to get to 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad Budapest

It fills us with great pride that Hungary will host the 45th Chess Olympiad from September 10-23, 2024, which is the fifth largest sporting event in the world. We once again have the opportunity to showcase our country and our hospitality.

The Federation expects around 3,500 participants at the event.

The significance of the Chess Olympiad  lies in the participation of the world’s best chess players and grandmasters. It also provides an opportunity for participants to build international relationships and engage in cultural programs.

Travel to Budapest City Center

• By plane: Liszt Ferenc International Airport receives international flights, and from there, the city center is easily accessible.
• A private transfer from the airport will take you quickly and comfortably to your accommodation.
• By train: Budapest is accessible via several international railway lines, with Keleti, Nyugati, and Déli stations being the main railway hubs.
• By car: Hungary has a well-developed motorway network connecting Budapest with neighboring countries. Just let us know where you need the private transfer, and we will be there at the requested time.

Transfer to Budapest

First, you need to get from the airport to the center of Budapest:

1. Airport Shuttle Bus (100E)

• The 100E bus departs directly from the airport and takes you to Deák Ferenc Square in downtown Budapest. The travel time is approximately 30-40

1. Airport Bus (200E)

• The 200E bus takes you from the airport to the Kőbánya-Kispest metro station, where you can transfer to Metro Line 3 (blue line). From there, you can travel to downtown Budapest.
